After a super short flight from Belgrade of 1 hour and cheap, too (shoutout to Serbia Air), we arrived to our last Balkan destination: Tirana, Albania.
Cozy airport with not much fuss. But that could turn into a nightmare if not well prepared. Empty Information desk, moneyless ATMs and a horde of Taxi hustlers trying to get their next prey.
First things first, MONEY! Do not use the ATM near the baggage claim. It charges $7 for any transaction. So just be patient and head to the one with 24h written on it where they just charge 2% fee.
Then came the transportation problem. We knew there was a bus that goes to city center from the airport but the airport website doesn’t give any info about the price of the ticket, where the bus stop is or the bus schedule.
With a lazy wifi and no one at the Information desk we’d be freaking out if we hadn’t screenshot all info way before leaving Serbia.
So the only bus that goes to Tirana center is right next to the arrival area, right across the “official” taxi stop. You’ll see the bus sign with the schedule on it.
The bus comes once every hour at minute 25 on the dot ( so they say). The bus stays there loading people till minute 00 unless there were no more seats available. No credit cards accepted ( duh), we paid the driver 250Lek/p. The ride was about 30min till city center. If your hotel or wherever you want to go to isn’t at city center, the driver will make sure to stop where it is the most convenient for you. Super nice!
