We got to Belgrade by bus after a long ride of 7 hours in a bit so comfy and super chilly bus. So tips: leave a sweater nearby with food/water cuz there will only be only one short pee break.
Once in Belgrade we were super lucky with our accommodation. A gem that we highly recommend super close to most the touristic areas of the city. We loved Belgrade for its cleanness, foodie spots and never boring long walks to burn off all those yummy calories we didn’t stop ingesting.
We even had time to spend a night in Nis to go checkout the skull tower along with the Red Cross concentration camp ( open till 4pm). Our only regret is not planning it as a day trip. Nis might be the 3rd biggest city of Serbia but a day trip is more than enough to visit what she has to offer. Buses between Belgrade and Nis run every 30min and it is only a 3 hour ride for only 750 dinar ( 1500 dinar for a round trip) . Just make sure it’s a direct bus or else you’ll end up on a 4hr plus bus ride.
When you get your bus tickets at the main station, do not, I repeat: DO NOT get rid of the coins they hand you. We thought it was small change and left it on a restaurant table somewhere. But the coins were actually chips to let you in the bus terminus. You get fined if you lose them and we had to pay an extra 180 Serbian Dinars for each person.
No coin problem in Nis.
We are now ready to leave for our next destination. We took bus 72 from Zeleni venac Square near the market that got us to the airport in less than 45min. Make sure to buy your bus ticket from the kiosk in front of the bus stop ( 89 dinar) or else you’ll pay double or more if bought from the driver.
Update:
The kiosk right in front of bus stop 72 didn’t sell bus tickets. The lady said she didn’t have any. Does it mean she was sold out, or that they don’t sell bus tickets anymore? Not sure. We had to run to the nearest ATM to get some extra cash as the ticket cost 150 dinar if bought from the driver rather than 89 from kiosks.
